Repeating objects have been spotted around town!!!This is a personal project, an illustration series themed around 'mundane objects overtaking everyday spaces'.I've made a tumblr blog as a repository for the illustrations. I'll (hopefully) be adding new illustrations weekly!

Repeated object - Ein’s pink gameboy advance. Doesn’t have any games, battery cover is lost, only capable of playing the startup sound when turned on.
Repeated object - A 四万 mahjong tile from 蕾’s personal set. They bought it not too long ago, hoping to invite their club mates over for a game.
Repeated object - One of the lanterns hanging on the eaves. They’ve never been taken down.
Repeated object - An empty can of 100 blus Ein drank yesterday. It’s the perfect thing to cool you down in this eternal summer.
Repeated object - The security guard’s white plastic chair. It’s turning yellow after being left under the sun day after day.
Idioms! 成语! illustration series
Repeating objects have been spotted around town!!!This is another personal project, this time it's a series of illustrations based on chinese idioms.My incredibly complex process is as follows -1. Crack open this absolute beauty. (pictured below)
2. Pick an idiom that catches my eye and illustrate it, together with its opposite idiom.

海底捞月 x 瓮中捉鳖
海底捞月(hǎi dǐ lāo yuè) [scooping the moon from the sea floor]
Meaning : Going after an impossible target, a futile effort. 比喻白费力气， 不可能达到的目标。瓮中捉鳖 (wèng zhōng zhuō biē) [catching a turtle in a jar]
Meaning: Going after an easy target. Like taking candy from a baby. 比喻要捕捉的对象无处逃遁，已在掌握之中。
粉身碎骨 x 贪生怕死
粉身碎骨 (fěn shēn suì gǔ) [pulverise body, shatter bone]
Meaning : Describes the willingness to sacrifice your life to achieve your goal or return a favour.
形容愿意牺牲性命以达到目的或报恩。贪生怕死 (tān shēng pà sǐ) [reluctant to part with life, fear death]
Meaning: Describes someone who is only interested in saving their own life. Or, as some might say, a coward.
形容为了活命而在紧要关头不敢挺身而出。
耳目一新 x 陈腔烂调
耳目一新 (ěr mù yī xīn) [sound and sight, all new]
Meaning : Describes how everything is different from before, everything is new.
形容一切事物和以前不同，全是新样子。陈腔烂调 (chén qiāng làn diào) [old speech, rotten tune]
Meaning: Describes stale and unoriginal ideas in an arguement. A cliché.
指陈腐而缺乏新意的论调、不新颖。

Please make yourself at home.My name is wenxuan. I'm an illustrator based in Auckland.I use Clip Studio Paint Ex for all my illustration work, the shortcuts and interface is like second nature to me now.In terms of subject matter, I'm particularly interested in the mundane, specifically mundane objects. It think it's cool how the objects I choose to surround myself with adopts a sort of autobiographical quality. Every object I choose to keep or throw away is informed and actively informs me as a person.I draw alot from my childhood memories in Malaysia when coming up with concepts. Immortalising precious fragmented memories on paper (digitally). When comparing my work to some old photos I have, I'm surprised at how warped my memories are. Apparently I have an especially thick pair of rose tinted glasses.I love the warmth of imperfect edges.
